Sex Offenders
The information in this site is provided in order to assist the parents and citizens of Pampa in protecting our children. Statistics show that "nearly two-thirds of all state prisoners serving time for rape and sexual assault victimized children. Almost one-third of these victims were less than 11-years-old. Even more unsettling is that sex offenders have a high likelihood of reoffending-- in fact, they are nine times more likely to repeat their crimes than any other class of criminal." Today, sex offenders who have on two or more occasions been convicted of or received an order of deferred adjudication for a sexually violent offense are required to register with the local law enforcement authority not less than once in each 90-day period following his/her first registration. New Jersey passed the first such law, commonly referred to as "Megan's Law", after a 7-year-old girl, Megan Kanka, was raped and murdered by a convicted child molester who had moved into her neighborhood. We will feature all new registrations here on our website along with a current listing of sex offenders listed registered at the Pampa Police Department and in compliance with chapter 62 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. . You may click on each thumbnail to see information on each person.
The following link will allow you to access the state wide database of Sex Offenders including in the Pampa area. |
